Why is my cat rough with other people?

With me, my cat is not violent. With other people, however, she can go from being affectionate to scratching them in a second.
These are people she's known as long as me, and people she's friendly with most of the time. But out of nowhere, she'll scratch them. Or, even when she's playing, she seems to play rougher with them than with me.
It's becoming a problem. Does anyone know the cause of this type of behavior? Or what can be done about it?
