Why is my cat attacking inanimate objects?

by Sarah

She’s very sweet

She’s very sweet

Just recently my carb has been attacking random objects that aren’t moving at all, such as shoes, socks, bags, etc. I can tell she’s not playing either because of the fact that she’s hissing, her fur is fluffy, and she’s very skittish while in the mood.

She doesn’t show any aggression towards me either. I’ll go to try to comfort her and show her that the object is no harm to her and she’ll rub her head against my hand while also being on alert, even sometimes attacking something else in the same manner.

I don’t know if this could be stress or whatever, but I just want to make sure everything is okay with her.

Editor's note: Is she spayed? Cats will sometimes do that when they go into heat.

Behavior changes can indicate a medical problem, so it's always best to get your cat checked by the vet.

Sounds like she might be in heat? Is she fixed?
