Why do cats have to stay indoors?

We let dogs outside but cats have to stay inside. I’m just trying to find the right cat for me. I hope to be a first time cat owner soon!

We let dogs outside but we do that gradually and carefully while we watch them or have them leashed. We also train them to come when called.

It's hard to keep a cat contained once they're outside. It's hard to leash train a cat. It's hard to get a cat to come to you when called, especially when they are distracted and overstimulated by all the sights, sounds, and smells of the outdoors.

A cat's desire to roam is strong, and there are many dangers. The average outdoor cat lives a far shorter life than the average indoor cat.
