What breed is this cat with blue and green eyes

This cat is following my friend, and I want to know its breed.


Editor's note: What a beautiful cat! I would be honored to be followed around by this fine feline. Your friend is very lucky.

I would call this kitty a domestic shorthair. Without papers, we can only guess at the breed.

Domestic longhair and domestic shorthair are descriptions we use when a cat doesn't have papers, and there are no clearly identifiable features or marks that would indicate a particular breed of cat.

Also, check with local lost and founds - there'll be Facebook pages you can send the photo to, for example. There are also feeding groups in many places for community cats (i.e. those without homes).

But don't hand over the cat to just anyone. There are plenty of pages of advice on Google about possibly lost cats so I won't repeat them here, but good luck.

If he/she doesn't have a home, consider adopting or else find a local adoption network (rather than a kill shelter). The cat might be following your friend for help.

You could make a paper collar that has your phone number on and ask for the cat’s owner to call you. Attach it around the cat’s neck with tape at the join (not covering the entire collar as it may be dangerous for the cat).

Facebook (and Google) will lead you to local adoption groups.
