Tortured Cat Saved by Young Boy Arrives in Port Washington, NY Today!
ANIMAL LEAGUE AMERICA RESCUES 16 FELINES FROM THE OUTERBANKS SPCA INCLUDING JACKSON – WHO WAS ORIGINALLY SAVED BY YOUNG WENDELL OVERTON AFTER HE WITNESSED THE CAT BEING TORTURED BY SOME YOUNG BOYS (IN PHOTO)
16 adorable adoptable felines of all ages from the NC Outerbanks SPCA, including Jackson, originally rescued from his tormenters by young Wendell Overton will arrive in Port Washington, NY today.
Wendell Overton of Manteo, NC found three other boys between the ages of 5 and 13 torturing a stray cat earlier this month. They were throwing the cat in the air, running over him with their bicycles, and squirting an energy drink in his face, according to Wendell.
Showing great bravery and concern for the vulnerable creature, Wendell confronted the boys and took the cat home where he and his mother called the Outer Banks SPCA.
Now Jackson will await a new home at Animal League America thanks to the bravery of Wendell. After being medically and behaviorally evaluated, all the felines will begin to go up for adoption on Thursday, April 4th.
According to a WVEC news report, Wendell’s mom Julia said her son "was watching the cat for a few weeks and he said 'Mom, if I can get my hands on him, can I save him?'" not realizing he would later actually save the cat from a group of abusers.
