Tail dragging on the floor and difficulty jumping?

by Jan
(UK)

My cat's tail is dragging on the floor and she is finding it difficult to jump. She is 7 years old and eating and drinking as normal.

Editor's note: I'm sorry to hear your cat is having problems, Jan. I would call your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Does she go outside? It sounds like she may have been injured. If she were my cat, I would suspect she may have some nerve damage, or a blood clot, or a neurological condition of some kind.

I hope she's OK and please let us know how she gets on.

Cat's tail
by: Jan

Many thanks for your comments. I have taken her to the vet, and they think she may have a fracture in her tail, however there is no nerve damage.

She has pain killers and is now trying to lift the back end, but the middle - end of the tail there is still no movement. They say it might come back, however if there is no improvement after 3 weeks the vet will have to amputate the tail.

Can't jump
by: Kirsten

Our cat we just found had the same thing. We thought she had been kicked up the rear end. Her tail didn't move and her back legs were weak. Two weeks rest and her tail is moving and she moves better. If unwell and not eating, I would take it to the vet. ❤ Hope kitty is better soon
