My male kitten licks or sucks the stomach of my female kitten

My male kitten licks or sucks the stomach of the female kitten all the time. It irritates the female sometimes and sometimes she doesn’t care. Why does he do this?


The male licks her stomach and I look and her stomach is soaked. He makes odd noises when doing it.

Does he think it’s his mother? They’re siblings and the same age but I don’t know if he’s confused or what.

It sounds to me like a version of wool sucking behavior. Cats will suckle objects, including blankets, the skin on the necks or arms of their humans, and so on.

There is often a lot of kneading that goes along with it. My cat Teddie used to do this often, especially on a very large teddy bear.

Some believe that cats do this, even into adulthood, because they were separated from their mothers too early.
