Cat suddenly afraid

Went to bed last night, cat did his thing and came up on to the bed and made it his own as usual.


Approximately 1 hour after getting up and out of bed this morning, our cat all of a sudden is scared to death of us.

He will not enter the same room and slinks down to escape and run from us every time we try and get him closer.

He is finally getting a little closer to my wife after 3 hours of coaxing, but he will not have anything to do with me nor my voice yet.

As I stated, everything was fine up until an hour after we got up. I was actually petting him and all of a sudden he looked at me like he had no idea who I was, and then took off and the games began.

I'm sorry to hear your cat is having problems. I would suggest calling your vet as soon as possible. In general, a major behavior change can be a warning sign of illness.

Over the years, some of my readers have reported similar incidents, which in some cases turned out to be the result of strokes or injuries.

While I can't say that your cat is ill or injured for sure, this is definitely something I wouldn't take any chances with. I hope he recovers quickly from whatever it is and things get back to normal.
