Cat is thirsty, not able to jump as high

by Marie Keller
(Orangevale, CA)

Adopted 3 year old Egyption Mau. Doesn't like other cats and usually hides if she doesn't know a person.

Impossible to get her in a cat carrier. She often brings in a snack for me (lizards that she likes to play with, mice that is her snack, birds, and rats from my neighbors palm tree).

She loves to be brushed, answers to her name, knows the words hungry, come, outside, get it, roll over, stretch. Loves her back scratched.

She prefers to lay on my right arm or on top of my feet. Will ride on my lap for short distances on my wheel chair.

She has a great personality and loves it when I'm out in the garden and will let me know if something is wrong in the house. She is now unable to jump up to her food (4 ft) and seems to hurt if I pick her up.

This sudden problem worries me. I wish I knew how to help my companion.

3 year-old cat

I agree completely - with Kurt. A cat this young should not have these problems and there may be an injury. The sooner diagnosed the better. Good luck!

She needs to see a vet
by: Kurt (Admin)

Inability to jump could be weakness due to any number of conditions, or it could be an injury or pain. If she seems to be in pain when picked up, then that may be one more sign that she is injured. Only your vet can diagnose the problem. I hope she's OK.
