Cat gave birth but still pregnant

Is it normal for my cat to give birth to a kitten one day and then it be two days later and she still hasn't given birth to any more but she's still pregnant? A day ago my cat gave birth to a dead kitten with a crushed nose and she's still pregnant but not even in labor.
