Bonded cats adopted separately

I took a pair of bonded year old cats to the shelter and they were adopted separately. The shelter said they had them in separate cages once they were neutered and the behavior list said because of their age, they should be able to transition ok apart.

I've been worried because I know you aren't supposed to separate a bonded pair. Do you think they will be ok? I brought them to the shelter because they were friendly and winter is coming. I felt they deserved a warm home with love. I was hoping they would get adopted together but they didn't. Thanks for any of your comments.

They separate when older
by: Pico

I adopted two kittens. They slept snuggled up together, did everything together, seemed very much bonded. Now that they are about 1.5 yrs old, though, they don't have much to do with each other. They are peaceable roommates but they don't sleep together, don't hang out, and mostly ignore each other. They separate and live their own lives, in other words. Don't worry about your boys, they got adopted and are living happy lives now.
