Although we sometimes refer to non-pedigreed cats as random bred or mixed breed, these terms don't actually mean the same thing. A pedigreed cat has papers showing lineage and conformation to a breed standard.
A mixed breed cat would be one that has parentage of two or more breeds, whereas random bred cats may or may not have purebred parentage. In other words, random bred cats are what we would call just regular house cats.
