4 Week Old Kitten Depressed?

by Grace F

I am fostering a 4-week-old female kitten named Scream. We received Scream and her brother Midnight on the Ninth of October 2024. Unfortunately, Midnight passed away on October 17 around 4-6 in the morning due to a blood sugar crash.

Since then, Scream has shown signs of depression. She doesn't want to eat without you cuddling her. She wont sleep if you're not on the floor sleeping with her. Essentially, she's lonely without her brother. She has grown weak due to the fact she hasn't been eating. She has eaten here and there but hasn't eaten like she did when her brother was with her.

When we received her, she weighed .58 pounds. As of the 19th of October, she weighed .48 in the morning. I have been giving her water mixed with honey to get her to eat and wake up. I honestly don't know what to do. We are getting another litter Monday October 21st to get her some company. What should I do to get her out of this?

Would force-feeding her help? Any advice would be amazing! Thank you!

You may need to force feed

You may need to force feed and stay close to her to act as a surrogate. The new kittens should help. Good luck!
